About Nichetools

Developers testing tools for developers. No sponsored picks.

Who We Are

Nichetools is a team of working developers who spend most of our day in text editors. We've used Emacs, Vim, VS Code, Cursor, and every AI coding tool that's shipped. When we compare tools, we measure things: startup time, memory usage, benchmark scores, and API costs. No "feels faster" claims without numbers.

How We Review

Every tool comparison includes reproducible test conditions: hardware specs, OS version, network conditions, and the exact commands run. Where possible, we cite public benchmarks (HumanEval, SWE-bench) and community data (GitHub stars, G2 ratings). If a tool is closed-source and we can't verify its claims independently, we say so.
